Privacy
Nothing about your little one is ever public. Dear You keeps the letters, photos, videos and voice notes a family writes for their children. There are no public profiles, no feed, no discovery, no likes. Nobody sees anything except the people you let in.
What we keep
- Your email address (you sign in with a code — we don't use passwords).
- Your signature ("Mom", "Dad") and your child's name, birthday and gender, to write the greetings.
- The letters and their photos, videos and audio, on our servers.
- If you accept whispers: a notification token and your time zone.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share data with third parties for advertising. There is no advertising.
- We don't use third-party analytics or trackers in the app.
- We don't train artificial intelligence on your letters or your photos.
- Your child's photos and voice are never behind a public or guessable URL.
How sharing works (only if you want it)
You can create links for your family: they show at most one year (and beyond a month, only highlighted moments), they switch themselves off after 30 days, and you can turn them off anytime from the app. Anything you mark "For me" is never shared, never enters the book, and nobody else sees it — not even the rest of your family.
Who else gets in
Adding someone requires an invite code and your explicit approval. Until you approve, that person sees nothing — not even your child's name.
Your rights
Write to hola@dearyou.lat and we'll export everything for you, or delete your account and your data completely. In-app export and deletion are on the way; until then we do it by hand, quickly and with no awkward questions.
Providers we use
Servers on DigitalOcean, email through Resend, notifications via Expo and Apple. Each receives the minimum needed to function and nothing more.
